Due to continued reduction in mobile carrier support, and changes in carriers’ terms of service, Room Alert Account will be discontinuing support for Email-to-SMS notifications.

As of July 31, 2024, Room Alert Account service (account.roomalert.com) will no longer transmit these notifications. Instead, any Email-to-SMS notifications will result in a warning message being emailed to all administrators on the account.

This change does not affect Email-to-SMS notifications set up in Room Alert Manager or Room Alert Monitors. These will continue to function as they have in the past, with the same existing limitations imposed by carriers. Please note that these carrier limitations may mean these alert notifications are not received by users. We strongly recommend updating these alerts as soon as possible.

What are Email-to-SMS Notifications?

In the past, some mobile carriers have offered a service that allowed text messages to be sent to mobile phones by sending an email to an address specific to each carrier and number (for example, 5551237654@vtext.com). These services have been very limited in capability and many carriers have now discontinued them.

Upgrade your Notifications

There are 2 easy ways to upgrade your Email-to-SMS notifications in Room Alert Account for more timely and reliable alerting.

1) Room Alert Mobile App

All you need to do is install the Room Alert Mobile App for iOS or Android. Once you’ve signed into your account through the app, you will automatically receive mobile push notifications for all alerts on your account. Learn more about how to manage these notifications and all the other features of our mobile app in our knowledge base

2) Native SMS Notifications

Room Alert Account supports native SMS/text messaging. To begin using this feature, start by adding a mobile number to your user profile. Then, add an SMS action to the alerts you wish to monitor. Finally, add funds to the SMS balance on your account. Each message costs as little as 1¢, based on your country.

If you have any questions or need assistance with this transition, please contact us at support@roomalert.com.

Room Alert Manager can compile a GIF of images captured by your Axis camera to show you what triggered the motion.

When motion is detected, Room Alert Manager can compile a GIF of the images captured by your Axis camera. You may choose to email the GIF to your notifications groups, offering a quick visual check of your facility.

Before you begin:

First, discover your Axis camera. This FAQ shows you how: How To Discover Axis Cameras In Room Alert Manager.

Please follow these instructions to set up a GIF Action:

  1. Begin configuring an alert in Room Alert Manager to trigger when motion is detected. This FAQ shows you the basic process: How To Create Alerts In Room Alert Manager.
    • Stop when you reach “Step 3: Add actions to your alert.”
  2. In the Then… section of your new alert, select Motion GIF to add a Motion GIF action.
  3. In the Motion GIF Action form, select the camera that you used for the alert threshold.
    • The camera used for the action must be the same camera used for the threshold.
  4. (Optional) You may configure the action to repeat and/or associate the action with a Quiet Time schedule.
  5. In the Send GIFs to… field, select the notification group(s) that you’d like to send the images to.

GIFs only get attached to Email notifications. If your Notification Group includes other types of notifications (such as in-app messages, email-to-SMS messages, or text messages via SMS modem), the notifications will simply include the name of the alert and camera (no attachments).

  1. Motion GIFs are only sent when an alert is triggered (or as a repeat action while an alert remain triggered.) GIFs are not captured or sent when an alert clears.
    • For this reason, you may wish to add an additional notification action to your alert, so that you get notified when the alert clears.
  2. When you’re done configuring your alert, select Save Changes.

With so many industries and organizations adopting a “Shields Up” stance we want our Room Alert monitors to be some of the most secure appliances on our customers network. With customers in over 185 countries, we take security measures & precautions very seriously here at AVTECH to protect our corporate data and network, as well as the data of our customers.

AVTECH targets NIST 800-171 compliance for cybersecurity. You can learn more about that research and policies here –  Taking Your Privacy Seriously – GDPR, Cybersecurity, and More.

Security and data privacy starts with your employees, no matter what type or size organization you are. Every AVTECH employee is required to undergo ongoing security training throughout the year so our team is cognizant of current potential threats, how to recognize them, and how to ensure our data and network remains secure.

We also work with an external security & data privacy management vendor to audit our network, processes and policies in an ongoing manner to ensure we meet accepted standards and certifications. There’s never been a better time to upgrade to Lifetime Room Alert Account! From November 1st until December 31st, 2022, Room Alert Account customers can save big and lock in their environment monitoring for life. This locks in today’s pricing forever and avoids the need for any future renewal service. For those who are currently on the non-Lifetime Professional tier, you will receive a great 10% discount if you upgrade to Lifetime Professional. Additionally, for Room Alert users who upgrade to Lifetime Enterprise tier or higher, you will receive a 15% discount!

Room Alert Account is an online dashboard where users can easily manage all of their Room Alert monitors from any internet-accessible device.

In Room Alert Account, customers can easily manage and monitor temperature and environment conditions, create custom reports for temperature logging or environment sensor logging history, receive alert notifications when environment conditions reach extremes, view a map showing environment conditions in remote facilities and much more.

Professional Tier Room Alert Account

On our popular, Professional tier Room Alert Account customers can

Professional tier Room Alert Account is absolutely critical for any and all professional facilities, businesses and organization that does not want to fall victim to the 30% of costly downtime and damage caused by environmental threats.

Enterprise Tier Room Alert Account

Enterprise tier Room Alert Account offers everything available on Professional with increased capabilities along with Enterprise-exclusive features such as

  • Unlimited registered users
  • Up to 50 registered devices
  • Up to 25 links in Room Alert Link
  • Data retention for up to 365 days
  • Up to 25 sensors in our patented Monitor360 technology
  • Up to 75 custom-configured alerts
  • Up to 25 custom reports/graphs

Enterprise-Exclusives – User Roles And SAML & Single-Sign-On

Our Enterprise-exclusive features, available on all Enterprise tiers or higher, include assigning user roles and SAML & Single-Sign-On (SSO) functionality. Assigning user roles is a great management tool for controlling exactly what the registered users in your Room Alert Account have access to. There are five types of user roles that you can assign to every registered user on your Room Alert Account: Administrator, Provisioner, Operator, Viewer and a Billing role. Each user role has varying levels of access to view and edit information. Assigning user roles helps you streamline who has access to what and increases your overall security.

SAML Single Sign-On adds convenience for users, is highly secure and helps users maintain industry compliance for security and cybersecurity. With SAML enabled, your employees won’t need to memorize a long list of passwords for their different accounts and therefore are more likely to create complex and hard-to-guess passphrases. Employees are less likely to reuse passwords or write them down, which reduces the risk of theft. SAML & SSO dramatically decreases the potential risk of your employees exposing their personally identifiable information (PII) such as passwords to various web apps. For administrators, SAML allows centralized user management for everything from password complexity to quickly relinquishing login privileges when an employee joins or leaves an organization. If you are a company that is already using SSO, then once you configure it for our online Room Alert Account, any employees assigned to that Room Alert Account will only be able to log in through SAML. Your employees will no longer need to access Room Alert Account through RoomAlert.com with a standard username and password.

Lifetime Room Alert Account

Lifetime Room Alert Account is the best way to ensure your account never expires and your sensor data, alert lists, maps, reports and more will always be available when you need them. Lifetime subscriptions are non-expiring and completely independent of the hardware that you purchase. If you buy new Room Alert monitors or upgrade your current monitors to larger Room Alerts (or future new releases), your Room Alert Account service will remain in place with no additional charges or fees, unless you opt to upgrade to a higher tier for more capacity. Purchasing a Lifetime Room Alert Account subscription, with one easy payment, removes any hassle due to missed renewal notices caused by users retiring, changes to budgets, internal policy changes, job turnover and more. Lifetime Room Alert Account is also ideal for organizations who are required to purchase plans based on budgets and fiscal years, such as government organizations, schools & universities, and municipalities.

During our incredible Lifetime Room Alert Account promo, you can receive 10% off Lifetime Professional and 15% off Lifetime Enterprise from now, November 1st, until December 31st, 2022.

While heat waves are affecting much of the country, the United States government is busy announcing actions to help protect workers affected by extreme heat and heat index. The Department of Labor and OSHA have been directed to increase the enforcement of heat safety violations to help ensure workers are protected against heat illness, especially in high-risk workplaces, such as construction and agriculture sites. OSHA mandates that employers provide safe work conditions and protect employees from heat-related hazards and resulting injuries and illnesses in outdoor and indoor workplaces.

A critical component to employers complying with the U.S. Department of Labor and OSHA best practices include installing temperature and heat index monitoring in the workplace. The world just sweltered through its hottest June in the 174-year global climate record and there’s no sign of the heat letting up any time soon.

Heat-related illnesses are the leading cause of death among all weather-related workplace hazards and these deaths are preventable with the proper heat illness prevention plan. The most effective way to start creating your heat illness prevention plan is with proactive environment monitoring, as ambient temperature and heat index monitoring is part of OSHA’s federal guidance.

Room Alert provides temperature, humidity, and heat index monitoring in an easy-to-use format that allows you to monitor your workplace environment and protect your people, property, and productivity while maintaining OSHA compliance.

Room Alert is the best proactive environment monitoring solution for overseeing your workplace temperature, humidity, heat index, air flow, power and more. The Room Alert platform consists of monitors, sensors, accessories, and software that all work together to help you follow OSHA guidelines and keep workers safe from all kinds of environmental impacts. Room Alert hardware monitors your environment and communicates with Room Alert software that will promptly notify you via text or email to any changes that could jeopardize the safety of your employees, customers and anyone else in your facilities.

Room Alert helps you manage a wide variety of safety concerns such as heat index, which is the “feels like” temperature that helps us interpret how the heat and humidity affects how the temperature feels to the human body. For example, our Digital Temperature & Humidity Sensor has a special enclosure cap to promote increased air circulation that results in fast and accurate readings of the conditions in your environment.

Our award-winning Room Alert Account online dashboard and our local Room Alert Manager software both allow users to set up heat index monitoring based on OSHA and NWS guidance with just a few clicks. We make it as easy as possible for you to protect your people, products, and productivity.

If Room Alert detects the heat index has risen above 80 degrees Fahrenheit (26 degrees Celsius), which is when fatigue is possible with prolonged exposure and/or physical activity, then it can alert you to take caution. Now with the immediate notice from Room Alert, you and your team can take corrective action such as turning on the AC for your workers to prevent heat exhaustion, heat stroke, heat cramps and death.

Dangers of high Heat Index in the workplace

You can’t always know when extreme environmental threats such as heatwaves are going to hit, but you can proactively install Room Alert for peace of mind that your workers are safe from deadly heat-related hazards. Whether you are mandated to comply with OSHA guidelines or want to make sure your work environment is as safe for employees as possible, Room Alert is ready to help. Our team is happy to work with you to understand exactly what your organization needs to meet state/ federal requirements and keep your workplace safe.

If you have any questions, please contact us today through email at Sales@AVTECH.com, through our online Live Chat service, or via phone at 401.628.1600.
