Due to continued reduction in mobile carrier support, and changes in carriers’ terms of service, Room Alert Account will be discontinuing support for Email-to-SMS notifications.
As of July 31, 2024, Room Alert Account service (account.roomalert.com) will no longer transmit these notifications. Instead, any Email-to-SMS notifications will result in a warning message being emailed to all administrators on the account.
This change does not affect Email-to-SMS notifications set up in Room Alert Manager or Room Alert Monitors. These will continue to function as they have in the past, with the same existing limitations imposed by carriers. Please note that these carrier limitations may mean these alert notifications are not received by users. We strongly recommend updating these alerts as soon as possible.
In the past, some mobile carriers have offered a service that allowed text messages to be sent to mobile phones by sending an email to an address specific to each carrier and number (for example, 5551237654@vtext.com). These services have been very limited in capability and many carriers have now discontinued them.
There are 2 easy ways to upgrade your Email-to-SMS notifications in Room Alert Account for more timely and reliable alerting.
All you need to do is install the Room Alert Mobile App for iOS or Android. Once you’ve signed into your account through the app, you will automatically receive mobile push notifications for all alerts on your account. Learn more about how to manage these notifications and all the other features of our mobile app in our knowledge base.
Room Alert Account supports native SMS/text messaging. To begin using this feature, start by adding a mobile number to your user profile. Then, add an SMS action to the alerts you wish to monitor. Finally, add funds to the SMS balance on your account. Each message costs as little as 1¢, based on your country.
